Crash leads to impaired driving charges for local man: OPP

A Midland man is facing impaired driving charges following a collision Monday in Tay Township.

Shortly before 2:30 p.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP responded to Old Fort Road, near Elliott Side Road, and found a pickup truck in the ditch.

Jerry Pilon, 75, has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol and drugs), operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus), dangerous operation, driving a motor vehicle with an unsealed container of liquor, and driving a motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

He was handed a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days. He has a March 28 court date.
