Police say a 61-year-old Lake of Bays man suffered 'life-altering' injuries after his car left the road and rolled Sunday evening in Bracebridge area

Highway 11 North was closed for several hours Sunday evening after a man was injured after rolling his car upon leaving the roadway near Bracebridge.

UPDATE:
Highway 11 North was reopened late Sunday night.

Police have released more details about what caused the lengthy shutdown of the busy highway.

According to Bracebridge OPP, a vehicle left the road and rolled on Highway 11 North, just south of Stephenson Road 1 in Bracebridge at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday evening.

The lone occupant, a 61-year-old Lake of Bays man, was transported to hospital and then transferred to a Toronto area hospital with life-altering injuries.

UPDATE:
At 7:15 p.m. Sunday evening, the OPP Tweeted that Highway 11 North at Alpine Ranch Road in Bracebridge will likely be closed for several hours.

Police say a person suffered life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle crash that happened earlier in the evening.

A detour has been established, using Muskoka Road 117. But police suggest people avoid the area due to traffic delays.

Bracebridge OPP say a single-vehicle collision has led to the closure of Highway 11 North at Alpine Ranch Road in Bracebridge.

The OPP Tweeted at about 6 p.m. that the lanes were closed, saying updates would be provided as available.
