Driver airlifted to hospital after crash in Orillia (Update)

Sedan T-boned at Highway 12 and Forest Avenue

Police have released some additional information about the collision.

The crash happened shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

The driver of the sedan, a 27-year-old man, was extricated by firefighters and paramedics. He was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Highway 12 remains closed between Atherley Road and Gill Street. Updates will be posted to OPP Central Region's X (formerly Twitter) account.

One person has been airlifted to hospital following a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Orillia.

A sedan was T-boned by a large commercial truck at Highway 12 and Forest Avenue. The driver of the sedan was taken to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to another hospital with “undisclosed injuries,” according to OPP.

Highway 12 is closed from Atherley Road to Gill Street for the investigation.
