For the second morning in a row, a person has lost a life on a local highway.

Orillia OPP confirm that one person has died following a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Highway 11 earlier today.

Highway 11 was closed from Line 6 to Line 8 - both northbound and southbound for several hours. The southbound lanes reopened at around 8:30 a.m.

Orillia OPP Const. Brett Boniface says traffic reconstructionists from Central Region OPP are on scene trying to determine what happened.

He said there is damage to the roadway that may require repairs. As a result, northbound lanes of the "highway are expected to be closed for some time."

On Thursday morning, a motorist was killed and three others were hospitalized - one was airlifted to Toronto with serious injuries - after a two-vehicle collision on Highway 12 at Sturgeon Bay Road in Severn Township. That crash is still under investigation.
