Fentanyl, cocaine seized during drug bust at Orillia hotel

'If you buy and consume any type of illicit drug, you are putting yourself and potentially others at extreme risk,' warns Orillia OPP

A drug bust in Orillia has led to numerous charges being laid against a North York man.

Orillia OPP, with the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit, Central Region Emergency Response Team and the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit, executed a search warrant at a hotel room in Orillia on March 17. OPP did not identify the hotel.

Police seized black fentanyl and cocaine, as well as Canadian currency, drug paraphernalia and packaging material.

Kyle Hope, 25, has been charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and obstructing a peace officer.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia in April to answer to the charges.

Orillia OPP said the investigation is continuing, with further charges pending.

When you buy drugs on the street, there is no way to know what you are getting, and the consequences could be lethal,” police said in a news release. “If you buy and consume any type of illicit drug, you are putting yourself and potentially others at extreme risk.”
