Four area drivers charged with impaired in three days

Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged four drivers with impaired driving between April 2 and 4, 2022.

On April 2, 2022 at approximately 2:07 a.m., Orillia OPP stopped a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed while conducting speed enforcement in the City of Orillia.

As a result of the investigation, Apurva Patel (45) of Ramara has been charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(a)
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(b)

The accused was released on a Form 10 and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on April 19, 2022.

On April 2, 2022 at approximately 9:29 p.m., Orillia OPP were alerted by members of the public of a possible impaired driver. The vehicle was located and stopped by officers a short time later in Ramara Township.

As a result of the investigation, Alyssa Sherman (29) of Brock Township has been charged with:
    •    Operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, CC s. 320.14(1)(b)
    •    Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, LLCA 42(1)(a)

The accused was released on a Form 10 and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on April 19, 2022.

On April 3, 2022 at approximately 9:25 a.m., Orillia OPP responded to a call for service in Severn Township.

As a result of the investigation, Jesse Harrington (29) of Essa Township has been charged with:
    •    Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Criminal Code (CC) 320.14(1)(b)
    •    Resist peace officer, CC 129(a)

The accused was released on a Form 10 and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on May 31, 2022.

On April 4, 2022 at approximately 3:27 a.m., Orillia OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision in Severn Township.

As a result of the investigation, Meagan Castle (35) of Toronto has been charged with:
    •    Operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, CC s. 320.14(1)(b)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date.
