GRAVENHURST – Police say a local man was charged twice in less than a week with drug-related offences in Gravenhurst during ongoing drug trafficking investigations.

On Dec. 1, Bracebridge OPP officers charged a man with several offences related to drug trafficking after an early morning investigation.

Five days later, on Dec. 6, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit arrested and charged the same suspect as part of their investigation into local drug trafficking.

A photo released by the police of items seized shows cash, white substances in plastic bags, and what appears to be a weapon.

Shane Ketelaar, 35, of Gravenhurst is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine) for the Purpose of Trafficking CDSA 5(2)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Opioid) CDSA 4(2)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order CC 733.1(1)

Ketelaar was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Dec. 7.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Ketelaar is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
