A shotgun that fell off of a hunter’s pickup truck between Barrie and Alliston earlier this month has been found.

On Dec. 8, police reported the gun fell from the truck somewhere between Barrie and the 6th Line of Essa.

In a news release Friday, Nottawasaga OPP said the gun had been found and returned to its owner.

“Fortunately, a vigilant citizen found the firearm and promptly turned it in to the local police station,” police said.

“The Nottawasaga OPP extends their gratitude to the public for their co-operation and assistance in this matter. The swift response and responsible actions of the community played a crucial role in the safe recovery of the lost firearm.”

Police are looking for a shotgun that fell from the back of a hunter’s pickup truck somewhere between Barrie and Alliston.

Nottawasaga OPP described it as “a hard-shell shotgun case with a lock on it, containing a camouflage pump-action Mossberg 500 shotgun with a sling attached.”

It fell from a truck somewhere between 6th Line in Essa and Barrie. The driver had travelled 6th Line, 25th Sideroad, County Road 27 and County Road 90 into north-end Barrie.

Anyone who finds the gun is asked to call Nottawasaga OPP at 705-434-1939.
