A man is facing charges after driving onto train tracks in Ramara Township.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday, Orillia OPP officers responded to complaints about a possible impaired driver and were told the man turned his vehicle onto the tracks. That led police to request a “stop-train order.”

The vehicle was located on the tracks, and when police spoke with the driver, they began an impaired driving investigation.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Orillia OPP detachment for further investigation, police stated in a news release.

Roman Szakal, 37, of Pefferlaw, has been charged with operation while impaired and failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

He was released on a Form 10 undertaking and has a May 17 court date in Orillia.
