Impaired charges laid after two-vehicle collision in Ramara

One driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries, say Orillia OPP

RAMARA TOWNSHIP — Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid impaired driving charges in relation to a two-vehicle collision in Ramara Township.

On Feb. 18, 2022, at approximately 5:13 p.m., Orillia OPP responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two passenger vehicles on Highway 12 at Rama Road. One driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries, and subsequently charged.

As a result of the investigation, Leslie Becher, 63 years of age, of Port Perry, has been charged contrary to the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, CC s. 320.14(1)(b)
  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, CC s. 320.14(1)(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, on March 22, 2022.
