Police investigating after stabbing victim walks into Barrie pub

Barrie police say 40-year-old victim, of no fixed address, had suffered laceration to the head and shoulder blade area

Barrie police are investigating after an injured man walked into a local pub with "significant" injuries from an edged weapon, Monday evening. 

Shortly before 7 p.m., Oct. 9, city police respond responded to Malones Pint House at Bradford and Victoria streets near downtown Barrie.

From the investigation that followed, police say officers have determined the 40-year-old man, of no fixed address, had suffered a "significant laceration to the head and the shoulder blade area," according to a news release. 

He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

"It has not been confirmed what type of weapon was involved, but it could have been an edged weapon of some type," stated the released issued Tuesday morning.

Throughout the evening, police say investigators tried to find out the location where the victim had been injured, but were unable to do so and there is no information available about who injured him.

Police say officers canvassed the area and some surveillance video has been retrieved, but it only shows the victim and no assailants.

The investigation is ongoing and "appears to be isolated in nature."

Police say further details will only be released as the investigation permits.
