Local pair facing multiple charges after Rama Road incident

Police investigate after tip about driver asleep at wheel; Orillia man is facing a slew of charges after investigation led to seizure of drugs, cash and firearm

Rama Police seized 5.8 grams of suspected cocaine, 50 Oxycodone tablets, 20 Xanax tablets, almost $3,000 in cash in addition to a pistol-grip shotgun with 12 rounds of ammunition after an investigation on Rama Road Thursday morning.

An Orillia man is facing several criminal charges after he and another person were nabbed by Rama Police after they found a driver asleep behind the wheel on Rama Road early Thursday morning.

In a media release, police say they received a call about the car on the side of the road and began an investigation at 8:50 a.m.

As a result of the investigation, two people were arrested and police seized 5.8 grams of suspected cocaine, 50 Oxycodone tablets, 20 Xanax tablets, almost $3,000 in cash, in addition to a pistol-grip shotgun with 12 rounds of ammunition.

Yshua Sehrbrock, 36, from Orillia was charged with tampering with a serial number of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with, unauthorized possession of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, occupant of a vehicle knowing there was a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, careless storage of ammunition, possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine), possession of a Schedule 1 substance (other drug), possession of a Schedule 1 substance (Oxycodone) and possession of property obtained by crime.

Ashton Carnegie, 25, of Bracebridge, is facing 16 charges under the Criminal Code including all the charges listed above. Carnegie is also charged with impaired driving, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order and possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order

Both were held pending a bail hearing.

The vehicle they were operating was towed and impounded for seven days, say police.
