Local resident charged after cops raid home, seize coke and cash

Police say 23-year-old was charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime

City police raided a south-end Barrie home on Thursday, seizing $13,000 worth of cocaine, as well as the seizure of a significant amount of Canadian currency.

As a result of an ongoing investigation that was conducted by the Barrie Police High Harm Unit, a search warrant was executed on the afternoon of Feb. 8 at a Madelaine Drive address, Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said in a statement released this morning.

A motor vehicle was also seized and later searched at Barrie Police Headquarters.

A 23-year-old Barrie resident has been charged with possession of cocaine, trafficking, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing today, by video, at the Barrie courthouse.
