Man accused of driving while more than three times over the legal alcohol limit

A man is being accused of driving while more than three times over the legal alcohol limit.

Ontario Provincial Police received a report about a potential intoxicated driver in Ramara Township just after midnight Friday.

Officers found a vehicle matching the description they were given and arrested the driver.

Trevayne Thomas, 30, of Whitby has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused will appear in court next month.

In addition, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for a week.

Anyone who spots what they suspect is an impaired driver is asked to call 9-1-1.
