'It’s a do-it-yourself location, where you can book time and bring your vehicle in do do some work on it and we are not sure what was being undertaken at the time,' says police official

A man has been airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre after being injured by a falling car at a Barrie auto garage this morning.

Emergency crews responded to a call at approximately 9 a.m., Saturday, at Barrie Do It Yourself Garage, located at 84 Tiffin St.

"We don’t have all the details, but we did respond around 9 a.m. to a do-it-yourself garage located at Tiffin and Innisfil streets," said Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon.

"It’s a do-it-yourself location, where you can book time and bring your vehicle in do do some work on it and we are not sure what was being undertaken at the time," he added.

The man was tended to by paramedics, stabilized, taken to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and then airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto, Leon said.

The Ministry of Labour was notified of the incident, but Leon said they would not be attending.
