A Barrie man has been arrested and charged after city police say they found child pornography on a device belonging to the accused.
The Barrie police internet child exploitation unit conducted an investigation after receiving a report of an unknown suspect allegedly downloading several images of child pornography.
Police say the investigators learned the identity and residential address of the suspect. On March 29, a search warrant was executed at a northwest Barrie residence.
Police say the search yielded child pornography on a computer device belonging to the accused.
A 59-year-old man was arrested and transported to Barrie Police Headquarters, where he was held pending a bail hearing. He has been charged with accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Several other computer devices belonging to the accused were seized for a complete forensic analysis, according to police.
The name of the accused was not released by city police.
The investigation included grant funding from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
