Man charged for impaired driving after landing car in ditch

Police responded Saturday to single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte

Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a driver following a single-vehicle collision into a ditch on Highway 11, Oro-Medonte.

On June 26, 2021, approximately 4 p.m., officers received multiple calls reporting that a vehicle had entered the ditch on Highway 11 near Line 6, Oro-Medonte. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver was uninjured but made observations which led to an impaired driving investigation. The male driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result, Furlani OLDFORD, age 36, of Barrie, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released on a Form 9 Appearance Notice and is set to appear on July 13, 2021, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
