Police say an investigation surrounding a deposit for work that was never completed has led to charges for an Innisfil resident.

The Orillia OPP say in early May they started investigating an alleged fraud involving a garage door installation company.

Police said the company completed an agreement for installation but did not complete the agreed upon service.

The investigation was turned over to the OPP Central Fraud Unit, police said in a news release.

The investigation revealed that the individual entered a contract and accepted a $10,000 deposit in April 2022.

"The individual did not provide the service or material in question and eventually ceased all communication with the victim," police said.

Following an investigation, the OPP Central Fraud Unit arrested Alvaro Zuleta, 52, of Innisfil, who was charged with fraud over $5,000.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on Oct. 31.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Zuleta is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
