On March 20, 2021 at 8:46 p.m. uniform members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a Midland Avenue, Midland apartment complex in response to a noise complaint from tenants.
Officers entered into an investigation during which time they were assaulted by a person in the apartment of interest.
As a result, Dawson Dion, 22 years of Midland, was arrested and charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:
• Assault a peace officer (two counts)
• Fail to comply with probation order (three counts)
• Causing a disturbance
• Mischief - obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property
• Resist peace officer
The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear via video before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland at a future date.
