Manhunt for armed, dangerous man underway in Tiny (UPDATE: Male in custody)

Residential area is focus of ongoing OPP investigation; OPP say the man may be in possession of a compound bow and should be considered dangerous

Residents in the Nicole Boulevard, Tiny Beaches Road South, and Concession 4 boundary of Tiny Township have been alerted to the danger of a person of interest who may be in possession of a compound bow, said Southern Georgian Bay OPP Const. David Hobson.

A "male person of interest" was located in the search area and taken into police custody at 3:18 p.m. The investigation is continuing, say OPP officials

ORIGINAL STORY:

A manhunt continues amid a large police presence in Tiny Township this afternoon.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP Const. David Hobson said police were requested to respond at 7:23 a.m. to the residential area of Nicole Boulevard, Tiny Beaches Road South, and Concession 4 of Tiny Township as a result of an altercation between the person of interest and victim who was injured.

Uniform officers assigned to the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP K-9, and OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) are still in search of the male, who is described as follows:

    •    male white
    •    5' 9" tall
    •    thin build
    •    long unkept blond hair with a goatee
    •    wearing cargo shorts, t-shirt, red running shoes

Hobson emphasized that the person of interest may be in possession of a compound bow, and should be considered dangerous.

“The neighbourhood is aware through the presence of police officers and our conversations,” Hobson said.

Anyone who may have seen this person or knows of his whereabouts is to not approach him and to contact the OPP at 911 or 1-888-310-1122 in regards to this investigation.
