Police are warning people to stay off area roads as high winds are whipping up snow and reducing visibility to almost nil at times.
This stretch of highway is not the only major route in our region to be marred by a crash.
Innisfil firefighters and Ontario Provincial Police officers are responding to reports of a major pileup on Highway 400 in the southbound lanes, just north of Innisfil Beach Road. The highway is closed from Highway 88 to Mapleview Road - in both directions.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt also says police are currently dealing with several collisions in that area due to whiteout conditions.
No injuries have been reported so far.
