OPP laid several charges after a large truck rally in Bracebridge on the weekend.

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) laid several charges after responding to multiple traffic complaints about aggressive driving at a large rally in a commercial parking lot at 500 Muskoka Rd. 118 in Bracebridge on Saturday evening.

Hundreds of vehicles, mostly pickup trucks, attended the rally, according to police, and many of them were charged as they drove their vehicles in an unsafe manner, racing, tailgating and cutting other motorists off.

The OPP has charged at least 13 drivers with driving illegally modified vehicles, three drivers with stunt driving and one with dangerous driving. Officers also issued warnings to some drivers.

"Drivers who are involved in stunt driving or street racing face an immediate 30-day driver's licence suspension issued at the roadside, an immediate 14-day vehicle impoundment regardless of vehicle ownership and a fine upon conviction between $2,000 and $10,000," reads the OPP news release.

"Public safety is the number one priority, and visitors are reminded to respect our communities and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighbourhoods with risky, illegal and dangerous actions," the release continues.
