Police have released a sketch of a 'person of interest' wanted in connection to the shooting death of Jesse Daniel Deschamps this summer.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP have released a sketch of a suspect in the shooting death of Jesse Daniel Deschamps at the Village Square Mall on July 27.

An OPP forensic artist has created the sketch, above, and police are looking for members of the public to assist in identifying the man of interest.

Officers were originally called to the rear entrance of the mall at approximately 5 p.m. after reports of shots fired. Deschamps was found at the scene with gunshot wounds. Deschamps was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

There were reports, unconfirmed by police, of a black Ford F150 fleeing the scene.

On July 28, emergency crews were called to a vehicle fire at a railroad crossing on Line 8 North in Oro-Medonte, where firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle was destroyed. No one was in the vehicle.

The OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit searched the area, but no one was located.

From the beginning police stated that it was an isolated incident and there was no immediate threat to public safety. Police also reminded the public to always be aware of their personal surroundings and safety.

The 30-year-old Penetanguishene man was engaged to be married. He was providing for four children. He also loved baseball and other sports.

A GoFundMe account was set up in his name following his death with a goal of $5,000. "Jesse will greatly missed, forever cherished and always remembered," it reads. To date $4,890 has been raised.

According to Deschamps' Facebook page, he was an avid baseball player. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, dirt biking and spending time with his children.

The investigation is being conducted by the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Major Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
