(UPDATE) Search intensifies for missing Bass Lake boater: OPP

The Orillia OPP Marine unit is being assisted by the force's Underwater Search and Rescue Unit along with the OPP's K9 unit this morning

UPDATE:
The search continues for a local boater who did not return from a fishing excursion on Bass Lake Friday afternoon.

Search and rescue efforts have been ongoing, but in a media release issued Tuesday morning, police say the Orillia OPP Marine unit is being assisted by the force's Underwater Search and Rescue Unit along with the OPP's K9 unit this morning.

No other information has been released.

ORIGINAL STORY:
Officers from the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking for a missing man who went fishing in the Bass Lake area and did not return at the scheduled time. 

The OPP later located an abandoned boat in the area.

The OPP Marine Unit, OPP Aviation Services and Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) are assisting in the search. 

Shoreline property owners in the Bass Lake area are encouraged to search their property water line.
