OPP to revisit area where March 11 robbery occurred

Two suspects still at large; police will return to James Street area to continue search for evidence

Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a robbery with weapons at a James Street address just after 11:30 p.m. March 11.

A heavy police presence was noted in the area as members of the Orillia detachment, Central Region Emergency Response Team, Tactics and Rescue Unit and Canine Unit responded to the area.

As a result of the initial investigation, two male suspects are in police custody facing numerous charges including robbery and weapons related charges. Orillia OPP continue to investigate as two additional male suspects are still being sought in relation to this event.

Members of the Orillia OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Canine Unit, will be back in the area to continue a ground search for further evidence and complete a canvass of neighbouring residences. Police are still seeking suspects and are asking for the assistance of the public. If anyone has seen any suspicious activity or has knowledge of this event, please contact the Orillia OPP Crime Unit at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122

Police still believe that this is a targeted occurrence and that there is no specific threat to public safety at this time.
