Orillia man facing cannabis charges after vehicle stop

Seven charges laid against 29-year-old man, including possession for the purpose of selling

On April 5 at approximately 2:30 a.m., members of the Orillia OPP detachment initiated a vehicle stop for a Highway Traffic Act offence.

As a result of the investigation, police arrested the driver of the vehicle.

The accused, Alexander Cameron, 29, of Orillia, was charged with the following:

  • Fail to comply with release order
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine)
  • Possession of over 30 grams dried cannabis in a public place
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing
  • Possession of illicit cannabis
  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

The accused was released on an appearance notice with a court date of May 17 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia.
