Orillia man, woman face multiple drug trafficking charges

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Orillia Detachment have arrested and charged two people for drug possession in the City of Orillia.

On August 19, 2020 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Orillia OPP uniform members along with Orillia OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) conducted an investigation into drug possession in Orillia.

A traffic stop on Atherley Road was commenced shortly before 10:30 AM. Police formed reasonable grounds to arrest the driver and passenger of the vehicle for drug trafficking.

Arrested and charged is David Shirk, age 34, of Orillia. He is charged with: two counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Police also arrested, 32-year-old, Holly Cameron, of Orillia and charged her with: two counts of possession of a Schedule I Substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Both suspects have been released on a Form 10 Undertaking and are set to appear next on October 6, 2020, at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.

Drugs affect our communities several ways including: taking money from our community and getting our mothers, fathers and children addicted. Once people are addicted to drugs they will do anything to get money for drugs including theft, break and enters and failing to properly care for their children.
