Orillia OPP officers nabbed a driver who clocked 168 km/h while speeding down Highway 11 South on Good Friday.

Police say they were conducting "traffic control" on the busy highway in Oro-Medonte Township when the driver raced past them.

As a result of driving 168 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone, David Painter, 41, of Barrie has been charged with stunt driving. He received a 30-day licence suspension and his vehicle has been impounded for 14 days.

He will appear in court to answer his charges at a later date.

"Drivers and members of the public are reminded to respect our communities, comply with all laws, and not jeopardize the safety of our citizens or our neighbourhoods with risky, illegal, and dangerous actions," urged police in a media release.
