On Tuesday morning, an OPP officer pulled over a driver who was travelling in excess of 183 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone on Highway 400 in Oro-Medonte Township.

When the vehicle was pulled over at about 10:15 a.m., the stunt driving investigation turned into a drinking and driving investigation, police say.

As a result of the investigation, Ian De Castris, 46, of Innisfil, has been charged with operation while impaired, stunt driving and having open liquor in the vehicle.

The accused was released from police custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 6, 2023.

As well, the accused faces 90-day driver's licence suspensions as per the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines and a 14-day vehicle impound.
