Orillia OPP nab suspect wanted for attempted murder in Ramara

On Monday, July 29, 2019, the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a call for a serious assault in Ramara Township.

At approximately 2:20 a.m. officers responded to a call at a Logan Lane residence where a 23-year-old Ramara man was located badly injured. The County of Simcoe Paramedic Services was on the scene tending to the male. The victim was transported to a Toronto area hospital via Air ORNGE in critical condition.

The Orillia OPP along with Orillia OPP Crime Unit and Central Region Forensic Identification Services were called in to investigate this incident.

After a thorough investigation, a First Instance Warrant has been issued for Jake Marcellus, age 20, of Orillia in relation to this incident. The suspect is wanted for Attempted Murder contrary to Section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code. A picture of the male has been included in this release.

Police do not believe the male to be a danger to the public; however, police urge the public to not approach the male if he is located or his whereabouts are known. 

On Sept. 27, 2019, the Orillia OPP arrested the suspect in relation to this matter without incident. The accused is being held in custody and set to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia on September 28, 2019. The accused is facing charges of Attempted Murder and Uttering Threats.
