Orillia OPP have released surveillance footage of the suspect wanted for the armed robbery of the Laclie Street CIBC Thursday afternoon.

The Orillia OPP are looking for the public's help to track down an armed suspect who robbed an Orillia bank late Thursday afternoon.

Orillia OPP Const. Derek Tilley said at about 4:45, the suspect who "displayed what was described as a grey, blunt-nose handgun at the clerk," demanded cash from a teller at the CIBC on Laclie Street.

The teller gave "a quantity of cash" to the suspect, who then left the bank branch in the north-end mall and fled in an unknown direction.

There were no injuries sustained in the incident.

Police say the white male is approximately 5’8, 160 pounds and was wearing jeans, a DC United white long-sleeve shirt, a bucket-style hat and a medical mask.

The OPP are using all available resources to carry out its investigation, Tilley said.

“Whenever a handgun is displayed, it obviously elevates the crime to a different level, and we are very concerned that a handgun was displayed,” he said. “We don't feel that there is, at this point, a concern to public safety or a threat to public safety. We believe this was an isolated incident, but as such we are investigating with all resources.”

The Orillia detachment’s crime unit, the Central Region canine unit, along with forensic identification services and the OPP's emergency response team is looking for the man.

Police are asking for members of the public who have dash cam footage to look for any information between 4:15 and 5:15 p.m. that may help identify the suspect.
