Four schools in Orillia were placed in hold-and-secure situations following two incidents Friday.

At about 10 a.m., Orillia OPP responded to a mental health call in the area of Barrie Road. Officers believed the individual posed a risk to public safety, so Harriett Todd Public School and Twin Lakes Secondary School were placed in hold and secure. Officers located a male, who was not on school property, and took him to the hospital.

Shortly after 1:30 p.m., police received a call from a business owner who reported seeing a youth with what appeared to be a firearm in the area of West Street and Fittons Road. Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School and Monsignor Lee Catholic School were placed in hold and secure. An investigation determined there were no credible threats.
