Orillia teen driver hits light pole after doing donuts near OSS

Pedestrians were in area at the time; the16-year-old was charged with careless driving, police say

The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a young driver following a motor vehicle collision, a news release said.

On April 25 at approximately 11:25 a.m. OPP responded to reports of a crash on Collegiate Drive near Orillia Secondary School.

It was reported that a vehicle was "skidding around" in the area before striking a light post and knocking it over.

In response to reports of donuts going on in the area police arrived and conducted an investigation. Police learned that there were four people in the vehicle.

Pedestrians were also in close proximity at the time the collision occurred. No injuries were reported.

As a result of this investigation a 16-year-old from Orillia was charged with careless driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
