Oro-Medonte traffic stop leads to drug charges for teens, adult

Two teens and an adult are facing drug charges after police pulled a vehicle over Monday in Oro-Medonte.

At about 1:50 p.m., an Orillia OPP officer saw a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed on Highway 11, near Line 15, and conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, police seized 5.8 grams of fentanyl, 8.7 grams of cocaine and 30 grams of cannabis, according to a news release.

A 34-year-old Hamilton woman, a 16-year-old from Hamilton and a 14-year-old from Burk’s Falls were each charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine) and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (opioid other than heroin).

The 34-year-old, whose name has not been released, was also charged with driving a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available and stunt driving. She has a court date in Orillia in April. Her driver’s licence will be suspended for 30 days and the vehicle will be impounded for 14 days.

Both teens are scheduled to appear in court in Orillia at a later date.
