Oro-Medonte woman attacked while walking dog; Suspect at large

On July 29, 2020, shortly after 7 p.m. members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were called to investigate after a woman was assaulted in Oro-Medonte. 

A woman in her 50s was walking her dog on Maple Ridge Road, when she was attacked by an unknown male assailant who dragged her towards a wooded area. 

She was located by a family member; the assailant had fled.

The victim did not clearly see her attacker, as she lost consciousness, but does remember him having a deep voice.

The woman was treated and released from an area hospital with non-life threatening injures.

Members of the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team and Canine unit attended and searched the area. The suspect was not located and the Orillia Crime Unit is continuing the investigation.
