Two people are facing impaired driving charges after being pulled over by Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police.

At around 10 p.m. on Friday, witnesses called police to report that during what appeared to be an attempt to park, a driver scraped their vehicle against another vehicle in a commercial parking lot on Wellington Street near Monck Road in Bracebridge.

When officers arrived they charged 19-year-old Shane Houle of Port Carling with impaired operation and operation while over 80.

Then at around 8 a.m. Sunday, officers were dispatched to a service centre on Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst to check on a driver’s well-being.

When they arrived they charged 41-year-old Kendra Hisson of New Tecumseth with impaired operation and operation while over 80.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.

“Information from concerned and attentive members of the public is key in efforts to take impaired drivers off the road and create safer driving conditions for everyone,” said OPP in a news release.

“The consequences for impaired driving in the province of Ontario, beyond the criminal charge, includes a 90 day drivers license suspension and a 7 day vehicle impound.”
