Pedestrian, 81, killed in Tiny Township collision (Update: deceased identified)

Nov. 17 update:

The deceased pedestrian in this crash has been identified as Donald Wilcox 81 years of Tiny Township. All affected roadways were reopened at 12:30 a.m. November 17, 2020 and OPP investigators wish to thank those at the scene who assisted in this unfortunate incident.

TINY TWP. — Members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report at 6:14 p.m. November 16, 2020 of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Baseline Road in Tiny Township.

Officers along with County of Simcoe Paramedic Services and Township of Tiny Fire Services attended the scene located between Concession Road 6 and Downers Road on Baseline Road and located an 81 year old male pedestrian who had been struck by a southbound car.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS personnel and his identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Baseline Road remains closed between Mertz Road and Concession Road 6 in Tiny Township and members of the OPP Central Region Technical Traffic Investigation (TTCI) Unit are assisting in determining the cause of the crash.

Investigators advise that Baseline Road should be open for vehicular traffic after 1:00 a.m. November 17, 2020.
