A man driving a pickup truck frightened two girls on Saturday after making repeated attempts to talk to them as they walked along a street in Bracebridge, police say.

Bracebridge OPP is asking for the public's help in identifying the driver involved in what police described as "suspicious behavior."

Police say they received a call from a parent at 1:30 p.m. detailing that her two daughters were approached by a man, driving a black pickup, who attempted to talk to them, asking them if they were "OK" while they were walking on Wellington Street near Armstrong Street.

The driver attempted to talk to the girls three times during their walk between the Rotary Centre and Monck Public School, police said in a release.

Frightened, the girls called a parent to pick them up.

The driver did not get out of his vehicle, police said.

The driver is described as a white male with short dark hair and stubble on his face.

He was driving a black, four-door pickup with tools and boxes in the back of the truck.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the interactions or who may have home surveillance systems in the area to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
