Police arrest 15 people in Orillia drug busts

Search warrants at three residences net drugs, weapons, currency

Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged numerous people following the execution of three search warrants in the City of Orillia.

On June 24, 2021, shortly before 10:00 p.m., OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) members, with the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, and uniform members, executed three search warrants, on Orillia residences, following a lengthy drug investigation. Fifteen people were arrested, in total, and quantities of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Oxycodone, Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) and Canadian currency were seized as well as a set of brass knuckles and a machete.

As a result:

  • Amanda ZIMMERMAN, age 29, of Orillia, has been charged with:
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - opioid
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • James NEWTON, age 50, of Orillia, has been charged with:
  • Possession of a schedule III substance
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
  • Alwayne SMART, age 38, of Mississauga, has been charged with:
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Kizzyanna JOSHUA, age 37, of York, has been charged with:
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Adrian DABRIEL, age 36, of York, has been charged with:
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Jerome SHENICK, age 24, of Toronto, has been charged with:
  • Possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Georgina WORRELL, age 48, of Orillia, has been charged with:
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000

The seven accused parties were all released on Form 10 Undertakings with future court dates at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia. The remaining eight arrested parties were released without charges.
