Police clock Wasaga driver going 170 km/h in 80 zone

The 19-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving and driving without insurance, say police

Police say they pulled a driver over on Highway 26 in Meaford on June 7 after they clocked the car at 170 km/h.

Ontario Provincial Police officers from Grey-Bruce charged a Wasaga Beach driver they say was driving 170 km/h in an 80 km/h zone in Meaford. 

According to a news release from Grey Bruce OPP, officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 26 in Meaford on June 7 at about 7:14 p.m. after clocking it at 170 km/h. 

A 19-year-old driver from Wasaga Beach was charged with stunt driving and driving without insurance. The driver received a 30-day licence suspension and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. 

The driver will have to face the charges in court later.
