A male driver in his early 20s is dead following a single-vehicle crash in the area of Highway 400 and Cundles Road this morning in Barrie.

Officers responded to the call around 6:30 a.m., Sunday.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said the vehicle was travelling on Cundles Road toward Duckworth Street when the crash happened.

"It appears they didn't navigate the curve," Leon said.

The driver, who was the vehicle's lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released any other details.

The on-scene investigation has led to several road closures in the area around Duckworth, Cundles, JC Massie Way and Georgian Drive, and is also affecting the on- and off-ramps to southbound Highway 400.

"Pretty much the whole area will be closed until further notice," Leon said Sunday morning.
