OPP are investigating a shooting that occurred in Victoria Harbour Thursday evening.

The shooting occurred on George Street shortly after 8 p.m. with police responding after receiving reports of multiple gunshots. Upon arrival, police located and spoke with a man, who was triaged at the scene by County of Simcoe Paramedics and transported to hospital where he was treated and released for injuries.

A neighbour who lives on the street said police told him the shooting was targeted.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous, said police went door-to-door after the incident and told him those living nearby did not have to fear for their safety.

Southern Georgian Bay OPP Const. Dave Hobson declined to comment on the incident. Later Friday, an OPP release noted that members of the OPP Central Region Crime Unit are assisting in this ongoing investigation, which is believed to be an isolated incident.
