Police are hoping some home surveillance cameras caught footage of a stabbing in Springwater that sent two people to a Toronto trauma centre.

According to a news release from Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police, officers were called to a local hospital around midnight on June 10 because two victims came to the hospital with stab wounds.

The victims, one youth and one 18-year-old were then taken to a Toronto hospital via Ornge air ambulance.

The investigation is ongoing, and on June 28, police appealed to the public for help. Police are looking for witnesses and surveillance footage from the area of Gill Road and the CP rail line crossing in Springwater from June 10 just before midnight.

A suspect description provided by OPP specifies only a white male about six feet tall. No age range was provided.

"Police do not believe there is any threat to public safety," said Huronia West OPP spokesperson Const. Lindsay Griffin, in an email.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Huronia West OPP Detachment at 705-429-3575 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). When you contact Crime Stoppers you remain anonymous, you will never have to testify, and you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
