Police seek scooter-riding man who set off fireworks downtown

In two separate incidents, man allegedly ignited fireworks behind pedestrians on Mississaga Street on Friday morning

Police are looking for a man who allegedly set off fireworks behind pedestrians in downtown Orillia.

On Friday between 10:30 and 11 a.m., a man on an electric scooter “ignited fireworks behind two separate persons as he passed them,” Orillia OPP stated in a news release.

Both incidents happened on Mississaga Street between West and Front streets.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 60s with a grey beard down to his mid-chest. He was wearing a grey sweater, black sunglasses, and a black baseball hat with flames. He was operating a red/orange scooter.
