Police seize $3,500 worth of drugs and cash in Bracebridge bust

BRACEBRIDGE - On March 20, 2018, the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two people for breaching conditions of their bail. Subsequently, the CSCU executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a Manitoba Street address belonging to one accused.

During the execution of this warrant, police seized over $2,000 in controlled substances including cocaine, hydromorphone contin, cannabis marijuana, and cannabis resin. Police also seized approximately $1,500 in currency. 

As a result of this investigation the following people have been charged:

Deborah Ferguson (60) of Bracebridge, Ont.:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule II substance for the purpose of trafficking - S. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule II substance - S. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - hydromorphone - S. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine - S. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 - S. 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Two count of fail to comply with recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada

Richard McKenzie (49) of Bracebridge, Ont.:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance - S. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Two count of fail to comply with recognizance contrary to Section 145(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The two accused were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 21, 2018.
