Two Penetanguishene men face impaired driving charges after separate weekend incidents.

Despite numerous Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) programs conducted of late by Southern Georgian Bay OPP officers, police were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Concession 11 East near County Road 6 shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday.

Greg Adlam, 51, of Penetanguishene faces impaired driving charges in relation to the crash.

On Friday evening, OPP officers conducting a RIDE program on Champlain Road noticed a vehicle take action to avoid the check, but eventually spoke with the driver.

Jasen Cronin, 53, faces charges relating to that incident.

Both men were released from custody and will appear in Midland court next Thursday.

They also face a 90-day driver's licence suspension as per Ministry of Transportation guidelines and both vehicles were towed and impounded for seven days.

Police say educating the public about safe driving, boating and ORV practices with its community safety partners is a priority.

“If you see a possible impaired operator on our roadways, waterways or trails please make the call and dial 911 as impaired driving never ends well, please make a plan to get home safely,” the police noted in a release.
