Several vintage vehicles and a structure were destroyed in a fire in a forested area near West Lionhead Road in Gravenhurst Tuesday evening.

Fire crews north of Orillia were kept busy Tuesday evening.

During an intense thunder and lightning storm, it's believed a lightning strike ignited a "wildland fire" on Doe Lake Road. The Gravenhurst fire department was joined by firefighters from Severn Township and Bracebridge to douse the pesky fire.

That was one of three "wildland" fires crews had to deal with on the stormy evening. An hour earlier, Gravenhurst firefighters were called to a grass fire on Barkway Road.

The busy afternoon started at a wildland and structure fire at West Lionhead Road, according to a social media post from the Gravenhurst Fire Department.

In that incident, officials suspect the fire "started in a vehicle and spread to the nearby building and forested area." Officials noted several vintage vehicles were damaged or destroyed during the incident. Damage is estimated at $750,000. It took several hours to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported to either the occupants or firefighters.
