Southern Georgian Bay OPP has laid stunt and impaired driving charges against drivers in separate incidents recently.

At about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, police clocked a vehicle being driven more than 110 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Baseline Road in Tiny Township.

The driver, a 26-year-old Tay Township man, was charged with stunt driving/excessive speed, speeding, and driving without a validated permit. His licence will be suspended for 30 days and the vehicle will be impounded for 45 days.

Shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, officers saw a southbound vehicle crash onto the front lawn of a “recently opened restaurant” on King Street in Midland, according to a news release. The driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was not injured.

A 29-year-old Tay woman has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol) and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus). The accused was released from custody and has a Jan. 11 court date. The driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and the vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
