SUV stolen from Orillia used in Markham home invasion: police

Two men arrested, stolen vehicle recovered following home invasion Saturday afternoon at Steeles and Henderson, York Regional Police say

Two men have been charged and a stolen vehicle recovered following a home invasion in Markham on Saturday afternoon.   

When York Regional Police responded to a report of a home invasion in the area of Steeles Avenue East and Henderson Avenue on April 12 at about 4 p.m., a woman reported two armed men broke into her house and threatened to kill her while demanding money, according to a news release. The victim was not injured.  

The suspects fled in a white sports utility vehicle, which had been stolen earlier that day in Orillia, according to police.   

The stolen vehicle was located, with the assistance of the air support unit and the Toronto Police Service. The suspects were located on foot in a mall in Toronto and taken into custody.  

Charged are Wylie Gabriel, 18, of no fixed address, and Andrew Parsons, 24, of Toronto.  

Charges: 

  • Robbery with Firearm 
  • Disguise with Intent 
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 
  • Mischief Over $5,000 

Parsons was on two release orders and wanted by TPS at the time of these offences, police said.
