Tay resident, 74, identified as victim in fatal pedestrian crash

Emergency crews responded to a fatal collision Saturday night on Bayfield Street in Springwater Township, just north of Barrie. OPP say a pedestrian, identified as a 74-year-old Tay Township resident, was killed.

Provincial police have identified the victim in a fatal pedestrian collision Saturday night on Bayfield Street as a 74-year-old Tay Township resident. 

The collision happened in Springwater Township, just outside the Barrie city limits, on Nov. 11 around 11:15 p.m.

Huronia West OPP say the crash, which involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, happened in the northbound lanes near 1013 Bayfield St. 

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. No other information about the victim has been released. 

Bayfield Street was closed between Carson Road and Snow Valley Road for several hours while OPP technical collision investigators and reconstructionists were on scene.

Officers are looking for assistance from the public in their investigation, including any witnesses or anyone who was in the area who has video or dash-camera footage. Anyone with information can contact Huronia West OPP at 705-429-3575 or 1-888-310-1122.
